Women's Health Programs at Origin
In the next 15 years the livelihoods of six million women will be affected by cervical cancer. It is estimated that 90% of those cases will be in low- and middle-income countries, despite the fact that cervical cancer is easily preventable.
Grounds for Health works in partnership with health authorities and coffee cooperatives to coordinate screening and treatment services for women working in coffee-growing communities. We currently operate programs in Ethiopia, Nicaragua, and Peru and are actively exploring opportunities to scale our impact and expand our reach across Africa, Latin America and Asia.
During SCAA 2015 we are encouraging all attendees to participate in our Roaster's Challenge match campaign benefiting Ethiopian women coffee farmers. Our goal is to raise $200K from the coffee industry. Every dollar will be matched by the U.S. Government's PEPFAR initiative for a total of $400K to expand our services in Ethiopia.
